]]>Thank you so much for sharing this Lori! I just had another one of these moments yesterday when I took Charlie to get a haircut (one of the WORST things for him and me). He hates the sound of dryers and buzzing and the feel of scissors. I held his hands and played him YouTube videos of trains and sang and the lady at Great Clips was awesome and we left complete covered in his hair but one more thing done that I think I take for granted when it goes well. It’s proof we can live in the moment, at least a little, and be grateful for it.
]]>This post resonated with me on such a deep level. Those long term goals have a way of ushering in either the need to fight even harder or the desire to just flee. We live a similar life with our youngest. Those long term goals are such an unknown. Will she ever drive a car? Have a job? Live independently? Read? Write? We aren’t quite sure, but like you said, we CAN love her forever. I’ve spent time trapped in the “I can make this happen” attitude, only to find myself surrender to the fact that as a human, I only have so much to give, but God will take care of the rest. We’ve grieved the dreams and goals that didn’t happen, then come round again to embrace our new normal and love right in the middle of where we are. Thank you so much for giving hope here in this space and thank you for sharing it with us at #MomentsofHope!
Blessings and smiles,
Lori
Moms are ALWAYS so hard on themselves. Why do we do this? Charlie’s 5 and such an amazing kid. I hope I am strong for him…he deserves it. As for me, I’m slowly filling out my page again, after years of just hanging in there.
