When I wrote this I was mostly thinking of the teachers. It’s SO HARD to teach well when the parents are fighting against your efforts and it is SO AMAZING when everyone can work together and communication can flow freely. Kudos to your husband for all he does.

]]>Ohhh, I’m praying for a smooth year for your brother. Some classes are easier than others. Sometimes all it take is one kid or one parent to make it or break it.
I’m laughing out loud about your mom. That is SUCH a mom thing to do. I have to stop myself from that with the twins sometimes. My mantra there: “They’ll work it out.”
]]>Gosh I’m not even a parent OR a teacher and I can see how perfect these tips are. My brother is now a teacher so I feel protective of him and any *stressful* parents he has to deal with. I think your reminder to show up – but only when you feel you can – is super important. It won’t do anyone favors – especially the parent and their child – if something is being down out of stress or judgement. At the end of the day the parent must put their trust in the teacher. I can understand how that could be really really hard. On my brothers’ first day of school (my parents’ first child) my Mom wrote a note to make sure he chewed his carrots correctly at lunchtime… hah.
