MY in-laws are from Knoxville! (We’re in Nashville). I think there needs to be a playdate in our future.

Crazy, right?!? And, I saw you’re in Tennessee? We are moving there this year once our house sells (hopefully spring/early summer). 🙂 My in-laws are just outside Knoxville, and that’s where we are headed. 🙂

Okay, so we are twin soul mates. Both taught C.S. Lewis and went through infertility and had twins and lived to tell the tale. That is too crazy!

I taught an elective on CS Lewis, and we read both of those! The kids totally got and loved TSL – so eye-opening for them. TGD was a little deep, but the ones who got it had their minds blown! lol

I LOVE Screwtape Letters. I taught a high school English seminar on Lewis and this was always my favorite one to get to (and also The Great Divorce).

I love that you landed on that same verse too Emily!

We are so fickle, right? I would probably bet you’ve read the Screwtape Letters? Your post reminded me of when Lewis says:

“The humans live in time, and experience reality successively. To experience much of it, therefore, they must experience many different things; in other words, they must experience change. And since they need change, the Enemy (being a hedonist at heart) has made change pleasurable to them, just as He has made eating pleasurable. But since He does not wish them to make change, any more than eating, an end in itself, He has balanced the love of change in them by a love of permanence. He has contrived to gratify both tastes together in the very world He has made, by that union of change and permanence which we call Rhythm. He gives them the seasons, each season different yet every year the same, so that spring is always felt as a novelty yet always as the recurrence of an immemorial theme.”

This gave me a lot to think about. It’s a huge comfort that, in a tough time, God keeps things moving along and it won’t be like that forever. The flip side, of course, is that the good times keep moving, too. But that points us to the eternal good time coming, right?!?

Thanks, again! 🙂

I’ve been meditating on that verse for a long time this year since we started reading through the Bible; it’s incredible to think how God promised that there would always be seasons, so we don’t have to ever worry that the seasons won’t continue as long as the world continues; I LOVE that you covered this verse Jamie. And i know what you mean by feeling tired and underwater. I definitely felt like that in January, and I”m so thankful that seasons do change, so we can begin to feel alive again!

Green smoothies in general make me laugh. I’m always like, “why? why do that to myself?” : )
