I’m definitely trying to have a more compassionate approach while being firm. But man, do I hear my mom’s voice coming out of me a LOT! And, the creeper was my go-to move when I was teaching…walk by, get it their space, put a hand on the desk… that’s usually all it took. They were caught, lol. Thanks for sharing your wisdom, Jamie! 🙂

Oh and both Jonas and Cora have eaten dog food (I’m gonna chock it up to a better immune system)

Oh I am most definitely a few seconds too late more often than not when it comes to the twins. They are just EVERYWHERE.

It’s like a not-so-subtle reminder that yes, I DO have eyes in the back of my head : )

Thank you for sharing your story Emily! To do-over is my favorite in my adult life too : )

It might give me a way to get out of the 4 o’clock when she calls my bluff. Also, I’m totally the creeper, although I was a few seconds too later earlier this week and Ave ate cat food. I suppose there are worse things. Truth be told, it’s kind of funny.

I agree. Just being where they can see me makes a big difference-and being in earshot gives less effect than in sight.

My husband and I adopted our oldest son through foste care. He was five when we adopted him and let’s just say….everything I THOUGHT I knew about discpline…well, I had to basically throw it out the window. The “DO OVER” was one of the revolutionary things we started. He had been so used to behaving and handling things in a certain way…and he truly and honestly needed the practice in “doing it over” correctly. I now have two more children who God gave to me biologically. Even though I have had them since birth, we still do “do overs”….especially with my three year old. Parents always need a variety of tools in their “toolbox” when it comes to discipline. What works for one child may not work for another, so the more ideas the better!
