I’m GETTING better! Practice and practice helps. Weirdly, I am much better at trying new things in the spring and summer than the fall and winter…cold makes me crotchety.

Listen…I’m admitting…the gazpacho is still a work in progress. Maybe I’m blending to much or not enough or maybe I just don’t like cold soup. But according to the recipe it came out right so I’m calling it a win ; )

I used to be a lot like that, too. I was comfortable with the familiar. I didn’t even want to try new restaurants….. Anyway, I think I’m better at it now, though sometimes the comfortable wins out over the new. I like the idea of trying something with the idea that it’s okay if you fail or don’t like it or it doesn’t become your favorite. Blessings to you! Loved reading your whole article. xo

A beautiful example how powerful it is when a parent comes alongside a child to admit that they struggle with the same thing. Your daughter embarked upon a new world with you modelling the same, sharing in your courageous and frightening adventures!! I love it! And whoa!!! You actually tried making gazpacho three times?? I am so impressed!!!! What a great example you are to your children!

It is such a fine line to walk. It took a lot of prayer and discussion and trust for Jody and me to finally decided that we were already doing EVERYTHING we could for Charlie and so new info (if there even was any) would not be beneficial. Still hard though.

I believe getting a diagnosis is important because as your doctor said it opens doors. But I also 100% agree there is a limit. There is a point where new a new diagnosis, additional info, just isn’t necessary. Especially when testing scared my daughter. I wonder sometimes if she and I don’t have PTSD from some of the testing. She would scream and cry and fight the doctors and I would try to calm her, beg her, and explain, all while trying not to cry and yell at the doctor just to leave us alone. There was a point too, where I just walked away and was done. We had enough information to go on, we were fine.
